Whaaaaaaat's up Xion Chicago!!! :-)
I know it's been a little while, I should have dropped this some time ago but for all of you talented individuals who made it out to Third Coast comics on september 29th thank you for your taking the time to build with your fellow creators of the windy city. I have to thank Deaduri and Kizzie from Xion Milwaukee for giving the kid a hand and holding me down.
Shouts go out to Terry Gant of Third Coast Comics for letting a bunch of crazed creators invade his store. The energy in the spot was on point!!! :-)
I'll be posting up the date of our next meeting which will be in Novemeber The venue will most likely be Harold Washington library.
It's alot of great creators doing their thing here in Chicago I'm proud to be one amongst the ranks.
Let's not stop. let's keep building and keep thise movement moving!!!
Peace to All

Xion Chicago Launch
XION CHICAGO!!!
What’s up everybody!
Allow me to give you guys a brief introduction of
myself. My name is Joe Currie, and I am the founder of Strictly Underground
Comics. I have been in the comic book industry in one aspect or another for the
last sixteen years, and continue to make comics daily! (See www.punxofrage.com)
Let me just jump right into it.
The Xion Network is a comic book group founded in
Philadelphia by Shawn Alleyne. The goal was to bring together the comic book
creators of the city as well as fans of the culture in a positive way, with the
idea being that this would open up channels amongst the creators to allow the
sharing of information as well as the support of others in this industry. With workshops,
art jams and challenges added for the creators to sharpen their artistic
blades, the movement was a success and it begin to spread. New York city being
the first city to open a chapter of Xion
outside of Philly (headed up by Sha-Nee Williams & Takia Dunlop ) in order to spread the same
goals and ideals.
The Midwest would be next, starting with Milwaukee (and
Deaduri Gales as the Milwaukee branch manager). We had a successful launch in the
Mil, so it’s already on in the Midwest baby!!!
So of course we’re going to open a chapter of Xion
in Chicago!!!
I feel that this is the way to keep the comic book
community sparked and together.
It’s going down September 29th from 6-9
pm at Third Coast Comics.
6234 North Broadway Chicago, IL 60660
We’re having a meet and greet to start things off,
for the purpose of further establishing what the goals of the Network are. So
all you creators in Chicago come on through and bring your business cards and
portfolios and let’s talk comics and set that creative fire loose in the Chi…
Stay tuned for more details.
